Alfa Romeo is undergoing a massive transformation as it prepares for a new era of electrification and connection while staying true to the DNA of its pure Italian sportsmanship dating back to 1910 with the all-new 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale.
Alfa Romeo lovers will be able to experience more than 110 years of the company’s history and best-in-class performance from two new efficient powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid with over 30 miles of pure electric range and 272 horsepower. Â
An all-new connectivity platform and modern Italian styling are included in the Tonale’s feature set as standard equipment. Let’s also not forget the exhilarating driving dynamics from a rapid-response Frequency Damping Suspension (FDS) system.
The repetition of historic styling cues, such as the “GT Line” running from the back to the headlights, evoking the 1960s Giulia GT Junior, and the large and beautiful volumes producing iconic models like the 8C Competizione, throughout the history of automobile design. The “Trilobo” and the Alfa Romeo “Scudetto” shield are prominent features on the front of the vehicle.
There are two motor options. To achieve a best-in-class 272 horsepower and a range of more than 30 miles on electric power, the Q4 AWD’s six-speed automatic transmission and 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery are combined with a 90 kW electric motor and a 1.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine (48 kilometers) is the first option.
The second option is the Q4 AWD 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. It has a best-in-class base horsepower ratings of 256 and 295 lb-ft of torque, and is fitted with engine stop-start technology that fulfills the SULEV 30 standard.
Sophistication and dynamism are also evident in its rear window and alloy. It is a nod to Alfa Romeo’s 8C Competizione and a way to reproduce the brand’s style. The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale will be available for sale at Alfa Romeo of Ontario near Upland, CA, in March.
